A radar satellite from Britain to monitor illegal activities at sea

The first wholly British radar satellite was launched by an Indian spacecraft.

The satellite called NovaSAR has the ability to photograph the Earth’s surface in any weather condition as well as day and night.

The aircraft is expected to carry out multiple tasks, and the main intention of its designers is to help it to monitor suspicious maritime activity in particular.

NovaSAR is attached by its rocket to a satellite that takes high-quality images in normal lighting conditions.

This spacecraft, called S1-4, has the ability to clearly see objects as small as 87 centimeters on Earth. The S1-4 and NovaSAR were manufactured by Surrey Satellite Technology Limited located in Guildford, Great Britain.

Although UK engineers have expertise in space radar, their technology has always been directed towards the wider missions provided for agencies such as the European Space Agency.

However, the NovaSAR, shaped like a slotted device that slices cheese thinly, is a uniquely British creation.

It is used for multiple purposes such as oil spill, flood and forest monitoring, disaster response and yield assessment.
