When we are sleeping, we feel as if we are falling from above

In response to that, we hold tightly to something that is caught in our hands and  We wake up in fear.

This process is called Hypnotic Jerk.

This is mostly not something that happens during deep sleep.

It is said that this happens when you go to sleep after being very tired, take a nap during the day or rarely fall asleep at night.

how does this happened?

When we fall asleep, our muscles prepare to rest.

So when we relax our muscles, our brain misunderstands these signals.

The brain misunderstands these signals as the signals we receive when we fall from a height.

As soon as the brain receives these, it sends signals to the muscles of the arms and legs.

There are more scientific explanations for this

One is that people who believe that the evolution of humans is descended from apes use this phenomenon to spread that opinion.

As they say, monkeys sleep on trees and sometimes they fall down.

This is their mechanism to avoid falling like that.

It is not far from us and still exists!
