Let's do these things to protect ourselves in household electrical work...?

We need electricity to spin the fan, watch TV, listen to the radio, turn on the computer. Compared to other energy sources, electricity is easy to move from place to place. Also, we have been able to easily perform a variety of tasks through the wonderful source of energy called electricity. But no matter how important, electricity is something that needs to be used carefully. Electric shock directly injures people. Also, not only in Sri Lanka, but also in the world, fires in homes and factories are caused by electrical leakage, irregular electricity supply, etc. So how do we protect ourselves from electricity in our home? Let's find out about it.

1. Turn off the main switch

The current comes to anywhere electrical in the house through the main switch. If that doesn't happen, the wiring needs to be remade that way. Because after the electricity meter of a house, the next main device installed in the house is the main switch. Some people turn off the trip easily while doing housework. But according to the right technology, it is the main that needs to be turned off, not the trip.

2. It is bad luck to draw current from the bulb to a plug

If for some reason a plug point does not work at home, or if some machine is used elsewhere, some of us are used to putting a holder on a bulb at home and getting the current through it. But it is a very dangerous job. A bulb is wired to draw a current of about 5 amps. Beyond that, the current received by a bulb may not be enough to power blenders, fans, and machines. Therefore, if some supply is given to another place, it is best to give it through a plug in the wall. Without that, if a large current passes through the wires, the wires may melt and cause serious accidents.

3. Be careful of water if pulling out wires

It is our habit to decorate around the house for Christmas. At that time, when we connect two pieces of wire to put a bulb or a string of bulbs, we don't think about it that much. But such places that are not properly covered can be a big danger if they get wet due to snow or rain. Therefore, every time you pull the wires outside, to the tree, you should remember to insulate the ends of those wires well. For that, you should always keep a good insulation tape in your home maintenance box.

4. Test the trip at home

Trip switches and fuses in the home now often come in the form of miniature circuit breakers or small toggle switches. A small button to check this trip is located on the same trip switch. Before doing any electrical work, it is also a good practice to press the button to see if the home trip is working properly. The trip is the device that turns off the circuit in our house and protects the goods in our house when more current passes through it. If you can check that it is working properly at least once a month, it is very good for home security.

5. Shall we buy some quality goods..?

When we go to the market, we find different types of bulbs, holders, plug tops, etc. In fact, some of the multis that are in the payment are taken for a week or two, after which the holes in them become wider and cannot be used again. Also, there are electric bulbs etc., after the first few days, the light of that bulb gradually decreases. On the one hand, it is a good way to reduce electrical accidents, even if it costs a little more money, buying every electrical device, every device of a certain quality in the home. Also, if we buy modern TV household appliances, electrical appliances used in the kitchen, etc., if we buy them in good quality, we can reduce the electricity bill to some extent.

6. Let's get rid of animal dangers

Ants and termites live inside the electrical conduits and plug point switches in many homes. Inside a plug with cute plastic metal pieces, the ant sees it as a place where it is told to make a good den by digging a lot of soil. If you can use a less harsh insecticide on the inside when installing plugs etc., you can control this menace a little. Also, such switches or plugs should be removed and maintained at the first time they get stuck, to reduce the risk of shorting.

7. Lightning Hazards

No matter where a lightning strikes near the house, that charge enters the electrical circuit of the house, and through it, the goods connected to your house can burn. Even if there is a trip switch, when tens of thousands of volts are drawn through the main power supply, it is a small thing to pass that voltage through our trip switch and main switch. Even if it hits a nearby tree, the charges spread over a large area can have some effect on your home's electrical circuit. Therefore, in case of severe lightning accidents, it is possible to protect the belongings of the house by unplugging all electrical devices.

8. Let's insulate while working

When changing a bulb and cleaning a dirty switch, there is a risk of current coming through it, even if the relevant switch is closed. Therefore, when changing a bulb, two slippers and a rubber rug should be used to prevent the current from passing through the body. Use that rug or two slippers
